Hello and Good Morning Everyone, Welcome to the JulyX26 Edition of Chiya-Pop Guff. In Chiya-Pop Guff, I take a step back from the algorithm-fueled frenzy and just have a chill conversation about the movies I’ve watched, the games I’ve played, and the songs that have been on repeat — the kind of stuff you’d talk about with friends during a late-night call or a random cafe meet-up.

Whether it’s a random indie film that surprised me, a game I finally got around to finishing, or a track that got stuck in my head for days, you’ll find a little bit of everything here. This month was a bit of a slow step considering the amount of movies and series I watched, but none of the movies and series I watched were disappointing so I would say this month was great in terms of the quality of media I consumed. Also the movies I watched this month, are majorly all soft and heartwarming with a very comforting mellow vibe, had a great time watching all those movies as well.

I went into this movie with a very little experience, knowing it was a horror movie what I expected was just attempts of jump scares— i’m just glad the movie proved me wrong. Not just the eerie style of the movie the performance of the cast is also really convincing, before you know it you are actually invested in the movie. I am so glad I actually watched this movie in the theaters, the whole atmosphere this movie creates is really brilliant. The constant sense of unease and eeriness is one of the best atmospheres that could have been created by a horror movie. What this movie does best is how you are actually invested in the story instead of preparing yourself for another jump scare— and when the jump scare comes it actually lands.

The whole “One Wish Willow“ concept was a really good concept for a movie that started out this fresh. I wish they explored more of this aspect in the movie. For a movie with such a small budget and such a small crew what this movie was able to achieve is marvelous.

Overall, Obsession might be one of the best horror genre movies I have watched. This movie keeps you hooked from the very beginning and the tension in the movie is high— always keeps you on your toes. If you want something fresh to watch this movie is definitely one of the movies out there.

This is one of those movies that doesn’t leave a extraordinary impact on you but just makes you very emotional, warm and comfortable. The characters are very well written, even though most of the characters are just sheep. Every sheep has a separate connectable identity. You can see yourself caring about each and every sheep midway the movie. The movie feels great and is indeed very comforting but the color grading in the movie feels very off. The extreme saturation in the movie was very hard to ignore and was just screaming the target audience of the movie are just kids. That doesn’t means it ruins the experience of the movie or anything but its like a grain of sand in your eye— very annoying.

There are more goods in the movies than there are bad, like the winter lamb sequence— that whole sequence nearly made me cry. Moments like that just make this movie very heart felt and not just a cute animated movie. This was such a cozy movie, I barely remember any movie like this which put a constant smile on my face throughout the movie. Its not one of those movies that makes you think about it for weeks, its just a warm movie that lifts up your mood.

Overall, The Sheep Detectives is one of the very heartwarming movie. This movie actually lifts up your mood. If you want something easy to watch, that lifts up your mood. This movie is the best pick you can make. Definitely a good recommendation I can make from my end.

This is one of those comedies that gets funnier with every rewatch. This movie feels so effortless, so smooth. The setup is simple, its the pure chaos that’s funny and the best part is that the comedy doesn’t feel forced. Even with all this, the movie doesn’t feel repetitive at all. The pacing feels good, you know the punchline is coming but even that still ends up making you laugh. The chemistry between the cast is one of the best aspects of the movie, perfectly balanced and just having fun.

This is one of my comfort movies, whenever I don’t know what to watch I just put this movie on and i’m never disappointed at all. No matter how many times I watch it, its still funny like i’m watching it for the first time. Also this movie never tries to be something more than comedy, no unnecessary emotional drama or anything. There maybe so many movies that can be objectively better than this movie in comical aspect, but for me this movie has the highest rewatch value.

How can a ghibli movie even be bad! Like every other ghibli movie this movie as well is such a good movie.Do i even need to talk about the animations, peak as always. Just as what you will expect from a ghibli movie. But the story as well. So well written and well directed. Every frame feels alive as if a single frame is a whole painting itself. The passion for the craft, the passion for the love. Literally everything was perfect down to the last stroke of the animation. I love how this movie celebrates obsession, the obsession to create something meaningful. Whether it’s designing an aircraft, sketching ideas on paper, or simply chasing a dream, the film celebrates the obsession with creating something meaningful. You can feel that same obsession in the movie itself. Every shot, every line of dialogue.

By the movie ends, you are just amazed how amazing the animation is, maybe resonate with the character a bit as well. But its a movie that won’t leave you disappointed. It’s a beautiful reminder that while the wind may rise, we still choose to live, love, and create.

Picking this recommendation from instagram reels and through the reviews my friends posted on letterboxd, I had the vibe that this will be a very fun movie and it was. This movie had a very distinguishable aspect to its direction that made it very memorable. It has that vibe of comic book, a indie video game, anime and blends them all together perfectly. The best part about this movie for me was the impeccable visual style of the movie. All the details in the screen, every element in the details of the movie gave me that arcade vibe which I loved. And the flashy details don’t get overwhelming at all, they just add a layer to the storytelling of the movie.

Beyond all the great visual style and a niche art style there is a surprisingly good story. Watching the character evolve with the story gives a genuinely satisfactory feeling. It balances comedy, romance, and action without any one element overshadowing the others. This movie is one of those rare films where style and substance actually go hand in hand. It’s endlessly creative, ridiculously funny, visually unforgettable, and packed with enough charm that it’s impossible not to get swept up in its energy.

Knowing Rajkumar Hirani directed a series, I was quite excited to see it, but was quite disappointing to see the whole thing. The series wasn’t objectively bad, wasn’t something I expected either. Its just that the shoe never gets better than a mediocre show. The ending felt quite lazy considering the director. The story plays very safe thus becoming quite predictable at times. What this series does best is with the cast and their interactions, makes it enjoyable. Maybe its just my expectations that killed the vibe of this show for me, but what I expected was something actually far better than this. The show is a easy watch and is indeed entertaining at times, but its not something that leaves you a big impression.

Overall, I’d call it a solidly average series. Not something I’d actively recommend to everyone, but if you’re already a fan of the director and want to work your way through their filmography, it’s worth checking out. Just don’t go in expecting their best work.

Such a good timeless album, has to be one my favorite nepali albums ever to exist. I just love this album from my core. Bartika is such a great artist. Every song in this album feels so good, distinctive from the previous songs. Her writing feels more of a very vulnerable journal entry more than a song written to sell. The track “Najeek” from this album is one of the best nepali songs that I have ever listened to. The album talks about love, uncertainty, loneliness, hope, and growing up with a level of honesty that’s difficult to fake. It’s that sincerity that makes her music so timeless. And to think that this was her debut EP is crazy. I love the identity this EP creates for itself. The production also feels exceptional— minimal but too good. I’ve listened to this album more times than I can count, and somehow it still feels fresh. That’s probably the mark of a truly great record.For me, Bimbaakash isn’t just one of Bartika Eam Rai’s best works—it’s one of the finest albums to come out of Nepal. It’s honest, beautifully written, delicately produced, and timeless.
